The offices
Local Government Chairman and Governor are elected by everyone. The two ward seats are elected only by people whose home is on that side of the railway. The allowance is paid every day you hold office, from the evening you win.
| Office | Who votes | Fee to run | Allowance a day | A full term pays | Policies |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ward Councillor, Agege North Title: Councillor | Homes north of the railway | ₦25,000 | ₦4,000 | ₦32,000 | — |
| Ward Councillor, Agege South Title: Councillor | Homes south of the railway | ₦25,000 | ₦4,000 | ₦32,000 | — |
| Local Government Chairman Title: Chairman | Everyone | ₦75,000 | ₦12,000 | ₦96,000 | 1 |
| Governor Title: Governor | Everyone | ₦190,000 | ₦30,000 | ₦240,000 | 2 |
A term runs from Sunday 8 PM to the next Sunday 8 PM, so the allowance lands on 8 Lagos days: the evening you win, the six days after, and the last Sunday. The Governor is a made-up office of the game, not a real one.
Which ward you vote in
Your ward is decided by where your home is. Move house across the railway and you move ward too. Everyone votes for Chairman and Governor, whatever their ward.
| Home | Your ward seat |
|---|---|
| Face-me-I-face-you · Agege Market | Ward Councillor, Agege North |
| Self-contain · Dopemu | Ward Councillor, Agege South |
| Mini-flat · Ogba | Ward Councillor, Agege South |
| Two-bedroom flat · Ifako | Ward Councillor, Agege North |
| Duplex · Omole Phase 2 | Ward Councillor, Agege North |
| Mansion · Ikeja GRA | Ward Councillor, Agege South |
The election week
- Monday 12 AM: a new election opens. The ballot starts empty.
- All week: players join the ballot from the Government app and vote at the Agege Polling Unit, open 8 AM to 8 PM every day.
- Sunday 8 PM: the polls close and the votes are counted once. Each winner takes office at once, and last week’s holders lose their titles.
All times are Lagos time. The Government app shows a countdown to the close at the top of This week’s ballot.
Running for office
- Open Phone → Government and scroll to Run for office.
- Pick an office: Councillor N, Councillor S, Chairman, Governor. N and S are the two ward seats.
- Write a slogan of 3 to 80 characters. It shows next to your name on the ballot and, if you win, in the list of office holders.
- Tap Run. The fee is taken at once and is not refunded.
To run, all of these must be true:
- Your life is saved to an account (Settings). Guest players cannot run.
- Your person has lived in Agege at least 7 days.
- You are not in a cell and have no case open with the police or the court.
- For a ward seat, your home is on that side of the railway.
- You are not already running this week. One office at a time.
- You have the fee: ₦25,000 for Councillor, ₦75,000 for Chairman, ₦190,000 for Governor.
There is no separate campaign stage. Your campaign is your slogan and getting people to the polling unit: tell friends in the chat, meet them there, and watch the results board together.
Voting at the Agege Polling Unit
Voting is in person only. Tap Go and vote: Agege Polling Unit in the Government app to open the map there. The unit is on the Agege side, north of the railway, open 8 AM to 8 PM.
- 🪪 Check-in desk: tap Check in. You do this once a week, before you can vote.
- 🗳️ Voting booth: pick an office, tap a candidate, then Cast my vote. One vote per office per week, so you can vote in up to three races: your ward seat, Chairman and Governor.
- 📊 Results board: see who leads each race, who is in office now, and the latest voters ("@name voted").
To vote your life must be saved to an account and your person must have lived in Agege at least 3 days. A vote cannot be changed once it is in the box.
If more than 3 votes for the same candidate come from the same internet connection, they all count as one vote in the final count. The live numbers in the app show every vote, so the result can be lower than the live count.
Winning and holding office
- The winner is the candidate with the most votes. A tie goes to whoever joined the ballot first. With no votes, the office stays vacant for the week.
- Your title shows on your person card in front of your job title, and in the Government app’s In office this week with your slogan and the days left.
- The allowance goes into your money once each day in office. It is paid even if you do not play that day; it shows the next time you open the game.
- Next week you can run again. A term never rolls over by itself: win the new election or the title passes on.
Cabinet and commissioners
The Governor can fill 4 cabinet seats: Commissioner for Finance, Commissioner for Works, Commissioner for Health, Commissioner for Transport. In the Cabinet part of the Government app the Governor writes a player’s @username, picks a portfolio and taps Invite. The player sees the invitation in their own Government app and taps Accept or Decline.
- Each portfolio holds one person, and a player can hold one portfolio.
- A commissioner gets the title on their person card and ₦2,000 a day while the Governor is in office.
- A commissioner can tap Propose on any policy that is not already on. The Governor sees it under the cabinet and taps Confirm to put it in force, using one of the Governor’s own 2 policy slots.
- The cabinet ends with the Governor’s term. A new Governor appoints a new one.
City policies
Policies are set in Phone → Government → Policies. The Governor sets up to 2 a week and the Chairman 1, so at most 3 are on at once. A policy starts the moment it is set, applies to every player, and lasts until the end of the term of the one who set it. It cannot be switched off early, and each policy can be on only once a week.
| Policy | What it changes | Example | City pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🚌 Half-fare week | Keke and Danfo half price | 🛺 Keke, same side: ₦100 → ₦50 🛺 Keke, across the railway: ₦200 → ₦100 🚐 Danfo, same side: ₦100 → ₦50 🚐 Danfo, across the railway: ₦200 → ₦100 | The discount, each time |
| 🩺 Free clinic week | Hospital jab and checkup 30% cheaper | Routine Screening: ₦1,000 → ₦700 Consult & Take a Jab: ₦6,500 → ₦4,550 | The discount, each time |
| 🧺 Market levy cut | Agege Market purchases 10% cheaper | Mudu Pepper Trade: ₦1,200 → ₦1,080 Cousin’s Wedding Fabric: ₦900 → ₦810 Down a Calabash of Agbo: ₦600 → ₦540 | The discount, each time |
| 🧑🏾🔧 Youth jobs drive | +10% pay on level 1–2 shifts | 📱 Skit Extra shift: ₦8,700 → ₦9,570 | The bonus, on each shift |
| 🧹 Clean city | Hygiene drops 10% slower | Hygiene drop, everywhere: Normal → 10% slower | ₦10,000 a day |
| 🌙 Night economy | The Vault and Baba Tee’s open 2 hours longer | 🍾 The Vault closes: 5 AM → 7 AM 📺 Baba Tee's Viewing Centre closes: 1 AM → 3 AM | ₦10,000 a day |
- 🚌 Half-fare week changes only Keke and Danfo. Okada, Taxi and your own car cost the same. The Ride app and the map show the lower fare.
- Price policies show on the action card with a note such as “Free clinic week −30%”, so you see the price you will pay before you tap.
- 🧑🏾🔧 Youth jobs drive pays the extra on top of the shift’s pay at the end of a level 1 or 2 shift. Higher levels get nothing extra.
- Night economy keeps The Vault and Baba Tee's Viewing Centre open later, so you can arrive and stay later.
The policies in force show as small icons on the map’s top bar.
The city budget
Policies are not free: each is paid from the city budget, shown at the top of Policies. Every day the budget gets 20% of the income tax players paid the day before. Price and pay policies cost the city the discount or bonus each time a player uses them; the others cost a fixed amount each day.
If the budget cannot pay, the policy ends at once for everyone, everyone playing is told, and the policy shows “Ended early: the budget ran out”. The purchase that found the budget short is charged at full price. A busy week with a big discount can empty a small budget fast.
Common mistakes
- Playing as a guest and finding you cannot vote or run: save your life to an account first.
- Going to the voting booth without checking in at the check-in desk.
- Arriving after 8 PM on Sunday: the polls close with the unit.
- Running for a ward seat on the wrong side of the railway.
- Paying the Governor’s fee expecting one term to pay it back.
- Asking friends on the same Wi-Fi to all vote for you: past 3, they count as one.
- Picking a costly policy when the budget is low, then watching it end on day two.
Plan the fee in money and your budget, find the polling unit in places and travel, and bring your friends with friends and multiplayer.
Questions
When are elections in Agege Life?
Every week. Voting opens Monday 12 AM and closes Sunday 8 PM, Lagos time. The winners are counted at 8 PM on Sunday and hold office for one week from then.
Why can’t I vote or run for office?
Only saved accounts take part: save your life to an account in Settings first. Your person must also have lived in Agege at least 3 days to vote, or 7 days to run. Candidates also need no open police or court case.
Can I vote from my phone?
No. The Government app shows the ballot and live counts, but your vote is cast at the Agege Polling Unit itself, open 8 AM to 8 PM. Check in at the Check-in desk first, then vote in the Voting booth.
How much does it cost to run for Governor?
₦190,000, paid when you join the ballot and never refunded, win or lose. The Governor is paid ₦30,000 a day while in office.
What happens if there is a tie?
The candidate who joined the ballot first wins. A candidate needs at least one vote to win; an office with no votes stays vacant for the week.
Who sets the city policies?
The Governor sets up to 2 and the Chairman 1 each week, in Phone → Government → Policies. Commissioners can propose one for the Governor to confirm. Councillors do not set policies.
Why did a policy end early?
Every policy is paid from the city budget, which fills each day with 20% of the day before’s income tax. When the budget cannot pay, the policy ends for everyone and the game tells all players.
